Malaysia teak importation for quality naval furnishings
Arredoteak uses precious wood, especially teak from Asia, for its craftsmanship. In particular, the company deals with a specific type of Malaysian wood.
Teak
Teak is a tropical tree with a cylindrical stem, with a height of thirty to forty meters and a diameter of 45cm. Teak is part of the category of hardwoods, with a singularity in the shade of colour, ranging from strawberry to red, but which with time tends to lighten up.
Inside there is oleosin, an oily substance that allows high resistance to moisture and insect attacks and therefore makes it the best wood for outdoor use.
Malaysian teak
Arredoteak prefers to use Malaysian teak because it is the best quality wood in the world. For this reason, the company offers the customer the qualitative raw material card. In order to plan better the project phases and thus guarantee the customer the excellence of the raw material,
Arredoteak establishes a time span of about six months for accurate selection.
Carefully selected wood
The selection stages of the material firstly include the trunk selection: the trunks are placed horizontally on the ground and an identification card is applied to their base, thus specifying the lot number, quality, length and weight expressed in tonnes. Through the examination of the cards and the perceived quality of observation, a first choice is made. The second phase involves cutting into plates, then subjected to drying and natural maturing, so that the colour can stabilize and become homogeneous. Finally, a new evaluation is carried out to eliminate any defects and the wood is shipped to Italy. At Arredoteak's premises, the customer will give their final approval of the material before the work starts.
